The Caro Cup was first competed for in 1949. It was an annual competition between Auckland and Waikato. It was last competed for in 2006.

In 2016 Swimming Auckland and Swimming Waikato reinstated this annual competition in the form of a 12/U Relay Meet. In 2017 13/U teams were added.

The weekends relay competition saw the regions’ top 112 13/U swimmers compete for their region in a number of relay events.  Swimmers competed in the same team for all events.

Each region selected the following teams –

10/U      2 x Girls and 2 x Boys Teams        16 Swimmers

11/U      4 x Girls and 4 x Boys Teams        32 Swimmers

12/U      4 x Girls and 4 x Boys Teams        32 Swimmers

13/U      4 x Girls and 4 x Boys Teams        32 Swimmers

Each team competed in their age group and swam in the following relay events (short course) –

In an exciting and fast paced event Swimming Auckland overcame some stiff competition from Swimming Waikato to take overall honours for 2017.
